The Cottage is situated in the beautiful Sterridge Valley a short walk from the idyllic village of Berrynarbor. Berrynarbor has been a past award winner of the ‘Britain in Bloom’ contest, many of the cottages and farmhouses have beautiful well kept gardens.
The village has a thriving shop/post office which is run by the community. Fresh bread, milk vegetables and Newspapers are available plus a wide range of everyday needs at competitive prices. The ‘Ye Olde Globe’ Pub in the village serves meals lunchtimes and evenings, it also has a children’s room. Their is also a Tea room and various Guest Houses and Hotels which serve meals. Watermouth Cove is at the seaward end of the valley, with a small harbour where boats can be launched and Watermouth Castle, a family theme park for all weather family entertainment.
Close to Berrynarbor is the village of Combe Martin, the ride or walk from Berrynarbor is spectacular with coastal views of the Hangman Hills which dominate the skyline. The beach at Combe Martin is a mixture of sand and pebbles and at low tide extends to a large area which is popular with children for rockpooling. Combe Martin is an ideal centre for walking with many footpaths and circular routes from the village. It has it’s own visitor centre which has details of events in the area. At the top end of the village is the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, a fun family attraction situated in 30 acres.
The town of Ilfracombe is a short ride away with some renowned restaurants down by the harbour, a theatre and cinema, swimming pool and a variety of individual shops. Golf at Ilfracombe Golf Club. From the harbour boat trips can be arranged along the coast or out to the island of Lundy.
Other areas to explore are the unspoilt Exmoor National Park, the surfing beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe.
The town of Barnstaple with its Pannier Market and Butchers Row. Lynton & Lynmouth with its Cliff Railway.
Arlington House a National Trust property home of the Chichester family. The Tarka trail for walking and cycling.
